PANAJI: Inspector General of Police V Renganathan on Friday informed that according to the Goa Police armourer the bullet that entered the house of Milton D’Souza on Tuesday in Kahriwado, Vasco, prima facie came from a machine gun.
IGP Renganathan said, “The armourer, who is a custodian of all police weapons, was brought in to verify the possible source of the bullet and weapon. He believes that it came from a machine gun.”
It was informed that private parties cannot hold arms and weapons license to bear machine guns. This tilts the scales in favour of the theory that the bullet was misfired from one of the defence agencies located in the vicinity of the residential area of Kahriwado.
The investigation, however, will continue and other forces are also likely to be brought in for verification of the bullet.
“Our aim is to establish the bullet’s caliber and weapon in order to prevent such occurrences in future,” the IGP stated.
