Stating that the Vasco chicken market which was in a dilapidated state would be repaired and operations would be streamlined, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Saturday said action would also be taken against illegal meat vendors.
“I have recently noticed that Vasco chicken market vendors including mutton stall owners had complained of lack of business and also requested action on illegal meat vendors. Vasco chicken market is in a dilapidated condition and we will undertake repairs and give a good market to the vendors,” said Salkar.
Responding to the illegal meat vendors, Salkar said he has directed Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues to take action against illegal meat vendors to streamline operations.
“The MMC will start to act on all illegal meat vendors like the way we are taking action against illegal fruit and vegetables vendors in the market,” said Salkar.
When contacted, MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues confirmed that action will be taken against illegal stalls in Vasco market.
“There are some stalls in Vasco market that sell chicken, which is not allowed. We will ascertain if they have valid license and try to relocate them in Vasco chicken market,” said Rodrigues.
