Vasco citizens led by Former Congress Minority Chairman Nazir Khan on Monday afternoon submitted a memorandum to Mormugao deputy Collector opposing the Sunburn festival planned in South Goa.

Speaking to the media, Nazir Khan said that the government should take action on the event organisers for announcing the venue and allegedly selling tickets without any approvals.

"It is shocking that the organisers have already announced the event and venue besides selling tickets. The government is saying that they have no information but tickets are being sold . This EDM is spoiling our culture and is a festival of drugs and prostitution and will finish the Goans totally" said Khan.

Social worker and former journalist Elvino Araujo said that the group would support all the NGOs who are opposing the Sunburn EDM Festival

"These festivals are finishing the people and there is only drugs and sex that is being offered in the festival. The tickets are allegedly being sold and people are buying them without knowing the fact that this festival has no approvals.

"The Government should take action against the organisers and the Government can promote mass functions highlighting Goan culture instead of supporting such EDMs . None of the Goans are a part of this festival but the event sees a huge influx of people from other parts of the country.

"We will oppose the function in totality and not allow the event to be held in Goa. The people are smart and will hit the roads if required but not allow such EDMs any more," said Araujo.
