Social activist Croydon Medeira has threatened to knock the doors of the judiciary over the movable carts, kiosks, parked vehicles selling goods, besides roadside restaurants that have come up all along the Mungul-Colva road.
In a letter to the Seraulim Sarpanch, the activist has expressed his shock and surprise that the Panchayat and the Secretary are turning a blind eye to the roadside business when the activities are causing total nuisance besides being an eyesore especially when the road has been just widened.
“Roads are not a place for commercial activity or hawking and should be kept free of any such activity as it causes hindrance to traffic, besides the possibility of accidents caused by the activity”, he said.
While demanding the removal of the hawkers forthwith from the roadside, Croydon has urged Seraulim Sarpanch with a request to close down the roadside activity within 15 days.
