When Shenaaz Khan of Baina delivered a baby girl at the Vishwa Sanjivani Health Centre in Vasco on Monday, the gift of her girl child was made even more joyous with an unusual gift from the hospital.
The entire expenses for Shenaaz’s delivery were borne by the hospital management, as part of its promise to cover all costs for the first girl child born in the hospital in the new year.
The Vishwa Sanjivani Health Centre, a multi-speciality hospital at Vasco, had declared in December end that it would take care of all expenses -- admission, doctor fees, operation theatre charges and other charges -- for the delivery of the first girl child born in the hospital.
The hospital owners, Dr Gautam Dubhashi and Pushpa Dubhashi,
had informed that this was an initiative to promote the birth of girl child in India, as a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
Honouring their promise, the all expenses of the first girl child born in the hospital were covered by the hospital’s management.
Speaking to reporters, Shenaaz Khan said she was very happy with the treatment and was jubilant that no charges were levied for her delivery in the hospital.
“My baby girl is extremely lucky and I was not aware till she was born that all charges would be waived off. Our baby has given us luck with her birth and I am sure she will be always lucky for us. I really appreciate the initiative taken by the hospital,” said a grateful Khan.
Dr Gautam Dubhashi informed media persons that the baby girl was the third child to be born in the hospital, with the previous two deliveries being boys.
“The patient is happy and we are happy too. This is the third delivery in our Hospital and finally, the first girl child was born in our hospital for the new year. We are equally excited and happy that we have done something for the Beti Padhao Beti Bachao initiative,” said Dr Gautam Dubhashi.
