People in the port town mourned the demise of anti-coal leader Adv T T Shreedharan on Wednesday.
Shreedharan (75), the father of Aam Admi Party Vasco Coordinator Sunil Loran, was well-known in the legal fraternity and a prominent leader who was among the first to raise his voice against coal pollution in port town.
Adv Sunil Loran posted a message on social media intimating people about the demise of his father. The mortal remains were cremated at the Kharewaddo cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
Shreedharan’s wife, Loretta, had contested assembly elections on the AAP ticket in 2017.
When contacted, Mormugao AAP Coordinator Parshuram Sonurlekar said Shreedharan was extremely helpful person.
"We are saddened over the loss of a true, sincere and a genuine social worker who had helped many people in Vasco.”
“Shreedharan was unwell for the last few days. He had undergone a bypass surgery a few months ago and had recently suffered a stroke, after which he was bedridden. He was admitted to the GMC hospital and breathed his last on Wednesday,” said Sonurlekar.
“Besides being a social worker, he was also an advocate and guide to many of us. When we went to him for help while drafting a document, he would never turn us down. Vasco has lost a true hero and one very strong voice against coal pollution," said Sonurlekar.
