Stating that the Tika Utsav has enabled the government to reach out to people, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the State government was contemplating on launching Tika Utsav 3.0 to vaccinate maximum people in the age group of 18-44.
“We are thinking of starting Tika Utsav 3.0 for the 18 to 44 age group in the State. We will take the vaccination programme to the gram panchayat level. If everyone cooperates, we will definitely be able to give vaccination to maximum people and achieve our target,”
Sawant said.
The government has already started vaccinating people in the age group of 18-44 and has further prioritised among different sections of the people in the age group.
The CM hit back at the opposition for trying to politicise the Tika Utsav programme instead of helping to achieve maximum vaccination.
“Some people are upset about Tika Utsav, but I don’t want to delve much into that. I can assure you that because of Tika Utsav, we have been able to reach out to so many people and there is good response. Panch members, sarpanchas and some MLAs have also done good work,” he said.
All Covid deaths recorded: CM
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said the State recorded 100 percent Covid-19 deaths and that Goa was much ahead compared to the other states in the country, in terms of recording data of patients who died of Coronavirus infection.
“People who have died of Covid while undergoing home isolation have also been registered by the primary health centre concerned and brought on record by the health department,” Sawant said.
He further informed Covid-19 tests were done on patients who have been “brought dead” in hospitals. “The throat sample of the body was taken to ascertain whether it was Covid-19 related death,” he said, adding, “compared to other States, 100 percent Covid deaths are recorded in Goa”.
The opposition had sought investigation into the 64 unreported deaths in various private hospitals, which were reported to the official data by the health department on Tuesday.
16 succumb to Covid-19
PANAJI: The State on Wednesday recorded 16 deaths due to Covid -- 12 at the GMC, two at South Goa District Hospital and one each at two private hospitals. Apart from these two more additional Covid deaths that occurred at the Mothercare Hospital in Margao between May 5-15 had been reported late to DHS, and were added to the cumulative death toll taking it to 2877.
