Congress Velim candidate Savio D’Silva has urged the people of the constituency to rally behind the party, saying the Congress has given a new face and promised that he will never defect from the party after his election.
Moving door-to-door in Assolna village with party workers and supporters, Savio told the people that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has honoured his promise that the party will never give tickets to the 10 defectors.
Making a fervent plea to the people of Velim constituency to rally behind the Congress, Savio urged the people to vote for him and elect a new face to the Assembly.
“Leaders might have left the party, but the Congress is still strong and alive in Goa. The 10 defectors had tried their level best to return back to the party fold, but Rahul Gandhi has said a firm no,” he told the people.
Saying that his candidature has evoked tremendous response from the people of Velim, Savio promised to the people that he will never defect from the Congress after election.
