PANAJI
Goa Suraksha Manch mentor Subhash Velingkar on Friday said he and two others were in the party’s shortlist for candidature in the Panjim bye-poll.
Addressing a press conference, Velingkar also hit out at the BJP for dragging the son of late Manohar Parrikar into electoral politics.
“Parrikar always kept his son and family away from politics but the BJP for its selfish gains and to win Panaji election on sympathy votes is forcing his son to contest,” Velingkar said.
“They are resorting to emotional blackmail in the name of Manohar Parrikar”, he said, adding that
He said, Parrikar’s legacy will not be transformed to BJP’s Legacy, Velingkar said and took potshots at the party he is credited to have mentored for over two decades saying that its ally and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sardesai was projecting candidates of the BJP.
Utpal Parrikar is a gentleman and does not have any political traits.
“He projected a candidate in Mapusa and now he is doing the same in Panaji,” Velingkar said, adding that Sardesai, Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo and Mavin Gudinho had become power centres in the government.
Decisions are taken on behalf of these persons by the BJP government, he added.
