A differently-abled local from Velsao, who had threatened to go on a hunger strike after access to his house was allegedly blocked by a fishing leader, withdrew his threat on Thursday after meeting Cortalim MLA Anton Vas.

Domingos Goes met Vas on Thursday with his complaint over the issue of his house access and explained the situation and difficulties that he and his family have faced due to the issue.

Vas requested Goes not to proceed with the hunger strike and assured to take up his issue with the authorities and offer help in whatever way possible.

Speaking to reporters, Vas said he had taken note of the plight of Goes.

“I was shocked that the access to the house of a differently-abled person was blocked. I will try and explore all options from my side, as well as legal and government side to help him in whatever way possible,” said Vas.

“I also request the fishing association leader to help Goes at least on humanitarian grounds in an amicable way,” said Vas.

Goes told reporters that he had withdrawn his decision to go on a hunger strike after a request from the Cortalim MLA.
