Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas on Saturday raised serious questions on the efficacy of the system to deal with illegal land filings, claiming that no action has been initiated by the authorities in respect of the land filing at Seraulim village.
He said it’s now 48 hours since he had called up the authorities, including the flying squad, and even spoke to the TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, but in vain.
“The TCP Minster had promised me that strict action will be taken to restore the land back to the original state, but the ground reality speaks different. No change has taken place on the ground. On the contrary, fresh land filing has taken place at the same site”, he sid.
Alleging that a Panchayat representative is involved in the illegal land filing activity, Venzy wondered what sort of message is the Panch member conveying to the people of the village in respect of agricultural fields.
“See the audacity of this person. There’s a charge sheet filed in the Court against this very person for land filing. Now, when this charge sheet is filed in the court, another round of land filling is taking place”, he said, while demanding that the police should file a fresh FIR and send a fresh charge sheet in the court.
