All quiet in Goa Cong regarding joining campaigning in K'taka

Are any of the  Goa Congress leaders heading to Karnataka to join the campaign trail in support of party candidates contesting the ensuing Assembly election? Even as a galaxy of Goa BJP Ministers and MLAs has descended in the neighbouring state in support of Party candidates, the Congress camp seemed relatively quiet. Sources informed neither Congress MLAs nor party leaders have any plans to join the election campaign at least for the moment. This assumes significance, more so, when Karnataka leaders led by ex-Goa Congress desk in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao had come to Goa in droves in support of the party in the 2022 polls. Any questions?

Will Vijai and party support

Cong in 2024 LS polls?

The spat between Varca strongman Churchillbab and Goa Forward Chief Vijaibab Sardesai, over the former MLA’s statement that the BJP would win both the Lok Sabha seats may throw up a question or two for the Fatorda MLA “ how will the Goa Forward party go about in the 2024 LS polls? And, whether the regional party would rally behind the Congress in the LS polls?  Or, what would be Vijaibab’s stand in the event sitting MP Sardinhbab or ex-GPCC Chief Girishbab Chodankar gets the party ticket? Many a question indeed remains unanswered.

Margao MLA may seek Urban

Devpt if inducted as minister

Will Margao MLA Diggu set his eyes on the Urban Development portfolio in the event he is inducted in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet, is a question doing the rounds in the corridors of the Margao Municipal body and outside. For, the Cong-turned-BJP MLA and the ruling BJP Margao  Councillors may  realize that things are not moving at the expected speed in the Urban Development department vis-à-vis projects proposed in Margao. Diggu, sources say, may also eye the Urban Development portfolio to tap the resources with the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) to usher in many a project in his fiefdom. Wait and watch.

Churchill's plans to hand over

baton to son changes equation

Varca strongman Bab Churchill’s plans to hand over the baton to son Savio in Benaulim makes reading interesting. For, many a Benaulikar had assumed that nephew Warren may emerge a probable candidate for Benaulim in the event the strongman calls it a day in politics. Reason: Warren had literally made his presence felt across Benaulim since the day the AAP broom had swept away the key players in the 2022 polls, That Warren has been seen taking up works including desilting of ponds and sports activity had indeed made many a Benaulikar to believe that Churchill’s nephew is bracing up for the 2027 battle.  Any questions?

Girishbab making presence felt

in South Goa in run up to 2024

Ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar is back under the scanner of the Congress camp. When the Youth Congress held a candle light procession on the Pulwama attack, Girishbab was a prominent face to participate in the protest, to demand a probe into the terror attack.  This is the second time in less than a month that Girishbab has returned back in his agitation mode, the last time was the black flag agitation at Ponda against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Opponents, however, suspect that Girishbab is making his presence felt in down South in the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. You know why.

BJP protest in Curtorim throws

down gauntlet to Reginaldbab

Has Curtorim MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco anything to say over the BJP protest in his fiefdom over the bad condition of the road in Maina-Curtorim? Well, the saffron brigade came in strength to take on Reginaldbab, right in  his territory  to highlight the pathetic conditions of the road.  The manner in which the saffron brigade went about the issue and blamed the MLA for the sorry state of the road has only left political observers to wonder what’s happening between the alliance partners. Any questions?

One reason cited by Congress leaders and well-wishers while batting for the Diggu-Girish duo to go to the 2022 polls as Opposition leader and GPCC chief respectively was that the minority vote bank is now restricted to handful of seats in Salcete. In the bargain, the party, which banked heavily on the minorities to form many a government, had no minority face to lead the party in 2022. The result was there for all to see. Ahead of the 2024 LS polls, a group within the…
