Work underway to upgrade football field at Reis Magos

PORVORIM

GSIDC Vice-Chairperson and Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Saturday launched the work to upgrade the football ground at Reis Magos in the presence the Sarpanch Sushmita Pednekar, Subhash Pednekar and panch members.

Speaking on the occasion, Naik said Rs 55 lakh would be spent in the first phase of the project.

“The first phase includes providing shade for the seating stand, construction of 4-feet high grill alongside the ground, construction of storm water drain and levelling of the ground,” said Naik.

“In the second phase, the lawn will be placed on the ground. Further, the existing transformer by the side of ground had become an obstacle for the smooth movement of traffic. Hence, there was a demand from residents to shift this transformer. Accordingly, this transformer will be shifted behind the ground. The road from Nerul to Reis Magos which is very narrow will be widened and hotmixed shortly,” said Naik.

Naik further informed that work on the Reis Magos Panchayat Ghar, which is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 97 lakh, will be completed within a few months.

“Once this Panchyat Ghar is completed, the Reis Magos Panchayat will be able to earn more revenue. Several development works, such as shifting of MRF shed, widening and hotmixing of internal roads, etc. in the panchayat area will be taken up shortly.”

“Since I was Sarpanch of Reis Magos panchayat prior to becoming MLA, I am fully aware of needs in the village,” he added.

Reis Magos Sushmita Pednekar and Subhas Pednekar also spoke on the occasion.
