The court, however, has set off the period of his custody in jail since his arrest in January 2011 till the date of the judgement.
On Monday, Judge D’Costa had convicted Rajesh Mishra for the murder of Rupesh Mishra, a native of Jharkhand, while acquitting the remaining two accused Pravesh Kumar Mishra and Sudarshan Mishra from the murder charges.
In this case, the Verna police headed by then PI Jivba Dalvi had charged the three accused persons for the murder of Rupesh by stabbing him with sharp knives on his neck and other parts of the body. The trio were further accused of dragging the dead body from the incident spot at a distance of 76.20 meters and dumping it in a stone quarry to destroy evidence.
