MARGAO
Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Friday dared Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Digambar Kamat for an open debate in Margao on the issues plaguing the commercial capital and the development that has taken place in Margao and Fatorda over the last 15 years.
Taking offence to the reported remarks made by the Margao MLA that Sardesdai has no knowledge of Margao, the Fatorda MLA demanded to know whether Margao according to Kamat is Moti Dongor, Khareband, Station road or the Fakir bandh.
Saying that the door-to-door waste collection was initiated when the council was ruled by his panel, Sardesai said that he had got then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar to address the media at Sonsodo to show the seriousness of the government in addressing the burning issue in 2017.
He further said that the council had taken the resolutions to go in for the bio-methanation technology to address the waste imbroglio in the city.
“If I had to be there for another six months in the government, Sonsodo would have been cleared by now,” he said.
The Fatorda MLA said that Fatorda has to bear the brunt of the garbage generated in Margao with the neighbouring MLA not taking any initiative for the disposal of the inert waste from Sonsodo.
