Both, however, ducked the question on grounds that the matter is sub judice with the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court seized of the matter.
Both Vijai and Sawaikar initially sought to know how shifting of Goa's NGT jurisdiction from Pune to Delhi will affect the coalition government's narrative Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn.
When The Goan pointed out that shifting the NGT jurisdiction from Pune to Delhi would only mean that Niz Goemkars would be put to hardships and inconveniences by travelling all the way to the national capital and engage a lawyer, the duo maintained that they cannot comment on the issue since the matter is sub judice.
They also had no comments to offer when their attention was drawn to claims made by social activists and common man that Pune was easily accessible by road and that they had appeared in person in many cases in the NGT instead of engaging lawyers.
The South Goa MP Sawaikar initially sought to explain that he has been given to understand by the Secretary, MoEF that the Ministry had received a representation from some lawyers, requesting the shifting of Goa NGT jurisdiction to Delhi. He, however, later said he has nothing to comment on the matter saying it is sub judice with the High Court taking cognizance of the MoEF notification.
