Former Sesa Goa and Sporting Clube de Goa attacking midfielder Adil Khan has confirmed a one-year deal with five-time champions Dempo Sports Club, said a source within the Dempo team management.
After making seven appearances for Delhi Dynamos in the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL), Adil signed for the erstwhile I-League outfit, Bharat FC at the beginning of the 2014-15 season but little was he aware of the catastrophic course of events that were awaiting him.
The versatile player injured his knee in a pre-season friendly and chose not to undergo immediate surgery in the hope of playing the full season with the Pune based team, but the repercussions were disastrous.
After recovering from a year of absence from the field, courtesy of a surgery and a strengthening programme, Adil signed for second division outfit Lonestar Kashmir where he got some game time, which in turn helped him sign for the Golden Eagles.
The Goan Everyday understands through reliable sources that Adil Khan and Dempo SC have a verbal agreement that the former will be allowed to move to an I-League club before the expiration of his 12-month contract, if the Golden Eagles chose to not participate in the top division league.
