MARGAO
Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai took the platform of historic Lohia Maidan, Margao on Saturday to take potshots at Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho for the statement there’s nothing wrong with selling the land given by the Goa government to Zuari Agro Chemicals for real estate.
Addressing a function organised by the 18th June Kranti Samiti at the Lohia Maidan on Saturday evening, Sardesai demanded to know whether it would be acceptable for the Industries Minister if the land allotted for industries at the industrial estates is converted for real estate.
He charged Mauvin for assuming the role of the Chief Minister, Revenue Minister and the TCP Minster by making a statement that there’s nothing to sell land given by the government to Zuari Agro to set up an industry for real estate.
“The Zuari land issue is a burning issue since the fate of 50 lakh square metres worth around Rs 50,000 crore is at stake. Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Narvekar had handed over 50 lakh square metres of land to Zuari Agro at the rate of Rs 25 paisa per metre to set up an industry to create jobs for the unemployed youth and to take the State forward,” he said, while demanding to know whether this very land can now be sold for real estate.
