In fact, president of the New Margao Traders Association Vinod Shirodkar has welcomed Sardesai’s plan to order post-occupancy
audit, saying that it will help unearth huge irregularities resorted to by unscrupulous builders in the commercial capital.
Vinod told The Goan that skeletons will tumble out of the commercial and residential buildings if the post-occupancy audit becomes a reality. “The small traders had been complaining of various irregularities by the builders on the parking front. If we find vehicles parked on the roads in the city, it is due to absence of parking facility. This has to stop if the authorities hope to resolve the parking woes facing the commercial capital,” he said.
The market association president pointed out that instances are galore when builders have sold the parking spaces for a price right under the nose of the planning
and municipal officials for a consideration.
“We welcome the TCP Minister’s plan to enforce post-occupancy audit for the buildings completed and occupied in the commercial capital. It will vindicate our stand that the parking spaces have been sold illegally for a price,” Vinod added.
