In a harrowing incident, three individuals fell victim to a brutal knife assault during the early hours of Friday morning in Orda-Candolim, Calangute Police informed.
One of the victims sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
The attack transpired around 2 am in close proximity to the ice factory at Orda, sending shock waves through the local community.
The perpetrator, identified as Sam Maikar Rathod, targeted Mithun Pawar with a knife, inflicting grievous wounds to his head with the apparent intent to cause fatal harm.
Furthermore, Rathod reportedly assaulted Pawar’s companions, Ajit Rathod and Ashok Chauhan, causing varying degrees of injuries to them as well.
Police have indicated that the assailant, described as a notorious individual, is currently at large.
Upon investigation, police have cited previous animosity as the primary motive behind this heinous attack.
Consequently, a case has been registered against Sam Maikar Rathod under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 324 (causing hurt with a dangerous weapon) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Efforts to apprehend the accused are underway as police intensify their search operations in the region.
