On the eve of the second death anniversary of former St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, the Vishnu Surya Wagh Pratishthan organized a programme in his memory ‘Dongaricha Suryaputr Vishnu’ at the Azossim-Mandur panchayat hall on Sunday.
Speaking at the function, former Azossim-Mandur sarpanch and current panch Ajit Bacal said that Vishnu Wagh was a personality who was famous not only in Goa but all over India. “He had immense knowledge on varied subjects and he would talk on any subject for hours,” Bacal said.
“During his stint as MLA, he fought for the people’s issues in the Assembly like no other MLA would,” he added.
Rohidas Shirodkar too remembered Wagh as a man with immense knowledge. “He was an affectionate and caring person who would become emotional at times. We need people like Vishnu Wagh,” Shirodkar stated.
Azossim-Mandur sarpanch Pranisha Naik, former district judge Pramod Kamat, Simon Caiado and others also spoke.
On the occasion, eminent personalities were felicitated which included former district judge Pramod Kamat, social worker Sunanda Naik, musician Tulsidas Narvekar and young farmer Vincent Gonsalves. A poetry recitation programme of Wagh’s poems was also held.
Azossim-Mandur deputy sarpanch Cipriano Afonso, Dilip Borkar and others were present.
