At a news conference, Shaikh said she had tendered her resigned as chairperson and submitted it to the VMC office, which would be forwarded to the Directorate of Municipal Administration.
“During my one-and-half year tenure as chairperson, I initiated 91 development projects worth Rs 7.27 crore in the city. I thank Valpoi MLA and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for his support in the development works and also express my gratitude to my fellow councillors, VMC staff and people of Valpoi for their cooperation,” said Shaikh.
“During my term, I received the support from all sections of society, which helped me to undertake many development works, such as building of the municipal ground, roads, tendering process for renovation of VMC garden, shifting of deputy collector’s office to Valpoi and many more. Now, other councillors and I will support new VMC chairperson Aktar Shah,” she added.
It may be recalled that all 10 councillors have been supported by Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane and the post of chairperson was mutually agreed by the councillors.
