Voices of Goa resonate at Kantaram Lharam 2026

The vibrant spirit of Konkani music came alive on January 29, at the St Sebastian Church compound Aquem, as the much-anticipated Kantaram Lharam 2026 Konkani Singing Competition held in three categories – Cover solo, Original Solo and Duet captivated audiences. Organised by the St Sebastian Parish, the event celebrated the rich musical heritage of Goa while providing a platform for talented parishioners from all over Goa to shine. The primary aim of the competition is to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Konkani music amongst parishioners of parishes in Goa.

The event commenced with the opening song ‘Kantaram Lharam’ composed by Fr Seville Antao (OFM Cap) and presented by Assisi Music Academy, Monte de Guirim.

The first prize was bagged by Prinson Rebello (Cover solo);  Sabino Dias (Original Solo)  and  Conceicao Fernandes and Reema Dias (Duet). The second place was bagged by Juella Fernandes (Cover solo), Conceicao Fernandes (Original Solo) and Tevry Brito and Juella Fernandes. The third place in the Cover solo was bagged by Esther Rodrigues. The winners received trophies, certificates and pool cash prize of Rs 75,000. A panel of judges – Fr John Fernandes, Joywin Fernandes and Classy Cardoz evaluated the performances on parameters such as vocal quality, stage presence, etc.

Vote of thanks was given by Project Manager Desmond Gomes acknowledging the efforts of Parish Priest Fr Simpliciano N Fernandes and the organising committee, sponsors, and participants who contributed to the event’s success. The joyous atmosphere, filled with music and camaraderie, left attendees eagerly anticipating next year’s edition.

The event was powered by INTElectra, Commonwealth Developers Pvt Ltd and Monginis. Associate partners were Furtados Music, Nave Marg Foundation, Lokmanya Multipurpose Co-op, Anta Jewellers, Hotel LaFlor and Sai Service along with parishioners of Aquem and well-wishers across Goa.
