Santa Cruz panchayat authorities have started the exercise of filling potholes which have developed along the Santa Cruz to Taleigao bandh road.
The exercise was started on Thursday in the presence of sarpanch Jennifer Oliveira, deputy sarpanch Domnic Pereira, panchas Amabelle Gomes, Perpetua D’Souza, Elson Braganca and Manguesh Gawas.
Speaking to The Goan, Oliveira informed that the condition of the road has deteriorated over the years and hence, the panchayat has started filling the potholes to ease the difficulty faced by the road users.
Deputy Sarpanch Domnic Pereira said he had personally met PWD officials to inquire about the reason for the road not being taken up for repairs or hotmixing.
“The PWD officials informed that the hotmixing of the road has already been approved but the tender has not been awarded. We do not know when the tender will be awarded and hence, we decided to at least fill the potholes to avoid mishaps along the road,” Pereira added.
“The potholes along the edge of the road were particularly dangerous to two-wheeler riders and few minor accidents have also taken place because of the same,” Pereira stated.
