“Whether or not the MGP will stake claim for the Shiroda seat will be known by December. This is not the time to answer the question,” Sudin told the media, when asked whether the party will contest the Shiroda seat in the 2017 Assembly election.
That Sudin neither replied in the positive nor in the negative and that he has admitted that the MGP has covered lot of ground in the panchayat areas of Shiroda has sent clear indications that the party will stake claim for the seat. “The MGP is in alliance with the BJP, which is presently representing the Shiroda seat. The party will answer the question of contesting from Shiroda by December,” Sudin added.
However, as far as the Dabolim seat is concerned, which is presently represented by Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho, Sudin asserted that the Dabolim seat belongs to the MGP. “We have a strong base in Dabolim. The MGP will not compromise on Dabolim,” Sudin said, when asked whether the MGP will leave the seat for the alliance partner BJP in view of Godinho’s plans to join BJP.
