In a development that may give a big boost to the investigations in the Swapnil Walke murder case, a Crime Branch team has returned to Goa with the three accused, who had sold the pistol used to kill the young city jeweller on September 2.
A Crime Branch team headed by PI Filomena Costa disembarked at the Margao railway station on Monday morning with the three accused persons from Bihar, who have been named by the those arrested earlier.
CB investigation Officer, PI C L Patil, told The Goan that the three persons, all natives of Bihar, have been remanded to seven days police custody by a Margao court.
“No sooner the team arrived in the state, the three were produced before the court, which has remanded them to police custody,” PI Patil said.
Sources in the CB pointed out that the investigating agency will also probe into the role played by the three accused, whether they had in the past supplied illegal arms to anyone in Goa. “We will try to find out how the three local accused, involved in the Swapnil Walke murder case, had come in contact with the three natives of Bihar. We will be investigating into all aspects, including supply and sale of illegal arms to customers in Goa,” sources said.
PI Filomena Costa told the media at the railway station that the CB team has managed to bring the three accused from Bihar in an operation lasting three days.
The accused in the Walke murder case had confessed to the Crime Branch that they had procured the illegal pistol from Bihar and had tested the firearm just under the Rawanfond bridge moments after disembarking at the Margao railway station.
