On Wednesday morning, unable to withstand the monsoon fury, the wall of the old house at Borda collapsed. Soon thereafter, the roof of the house also partially collapsed.
Nobody was injured in the incident as the house was unoccupied for a considerable period. The partial collapse of the house also resulted in soil overflowing on the road.
Fire personnel were summoned and the road was soon cleared of the mud.
They also informed that a similar incident pertaining to this house had occurred some four years back wherein a portion of the wall had collapsed thereby leaving the house in an extremely vulnerable position.
On Wednesday, another wall of this house collapsed leading to the partial collapse of the entire house.
Meanwhile, more incidents of tree falls have been reported across Salcete taluka. Fire personnel informed that reports of tree falls came in from places like Navelim, Rawanfond, Dramapur, Fatorda, Nuvem and Fatorpa. Fire personnel undertook work on a war-footing to clear the trees off the internal roads.

Torrential rains across the state led to the collapse of the wall of an old house at Borda, while incidents of uprooted trees have also been reported in Salcete.
