Water connections restored at Bordem

Water connections of around 29 families from Bordem, Bicholim, which were disconnected on Wednesday by Bicholim Primary Health (PHC) authorities for not taking precautionary measures to make proper discharge of garbage water were restored on Friday following the direction from Health Minister Vishwajit Rane under the leadership of former BMC deputy chairperson Bhagwan Harmalkar.

It may be recalled that on Wednesday Bicholim PWD water department after the instructions of PHC authorities had disconnected the water connections of around 29 households from Bordem, Bicholim as the locals failed to adopt precautionary measures to make the proper discharge of garbage water by digging soak pits despite of the time-bound notice from Bicholim PHC.  

However, former BMC’s deputy chairperson Bhagwan Harmalkar on behalf of the locals met the health minister and submitted a memorandum to him asking him to allot some time to the locals to adopt necessary precautionary measures. Following the request from the locals’ the health minister directed PHC to get restored all the disconnected water connections.

Dhanraj Malgaonkar from Bordem told that BMC authorities had assured them to help while adopting precautionary measures like digging soak pit, etc owing to which they were waiting for municipal authorities help, which they did not get till last.

Gokuldas Harmalkar told had PHC allotted them some more time they would have made the arrangements. Bhagwan Harmalkar said the BMC did not initiate any action to help locals due to which this situation has aroused.
