A severe water crisis has gripped parts of Hodar ward of Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) and residents marched to the PWD office after alleging they had been without proper water supply for over a week.
According to local residents, the disruption in water supply has persisted for nearly eight days, particularly for around 12 households residing at Hodar, while some localities have reportedly been facing irregular supply for close to a month.
The situation has led to mounting frustration among the public, with a group of women confronting officials at the PWD Curchorem office demanding immediate restoration of water services.
A major concern highlighted by residents is the inadequate water pressure, which has resulted in an uneven distribution of supply. While some multi-storey buildings reportedly continue to receive water, households located in other areas and at slightly elevated locations are not getting any supply due to insufficient pressure in the pipelines.
The crisis has significantly affected daily life, with residents stating that they are unable to carry out basic household chores or maintain hygiene. Women in the locality expressed difficulty in managing households in the absence of a reliable water source.
Adding to their grievances, residents pointed out that despite the lack of water supply, they continue to receive regular bills and even face disconnection notices for delayed payments. Locals claimed that repeated complaints to authorities, including the Panchayat and PWD officials, have failed to yield any concrete solution so far.
The aggrieved residents have now called upon authorities to urgently intervene and resolve the issue, failing which they have warned of an intensified agitation if immediate steps are not taken to restore the water supply.
