MAPUSA
Claiming that the water supplied to Mapusa is diverted for big hotels, North Goa Congress president Vijay Bhike threatened to protest if government fails to provide regular water supply to Mapusa within two days.
Addressing a news conference at Mapusa, Bhike alleged that the government has failed to solve the water supply problems and officials of the water supply division have become incompetent.
“The officials of the water supply division do not care about the problems faced by the people. Such incompetent officials should leave their jobs. During our protest, the Congress party will distribute rocking chairs to the officials,” informed Bhike.
Bhike demanded the checking of meters of the hotels and said the residents of Mapusa are facing acute water supply for the last 10 days, as water is diverted for big hotels.
Congress party leaders Sudin Naik, Chandan Mandrekar and Naushad Choudhary were present for the news conference.
