Thousands of litres of drinking water went down the drain as a pipeline connecting the valve was damaged near Subhadra restaurant in Chimbel on Tuesday afternoon.
On noticing the incident, locals alerted the PWD workers.
When contacted, a PWD worker informed that the incident had taken place when a vehicle went over the valve and damaged the pipeline. Workers repaired the damaged pipeline by evening itself.
