Water supply to North Goa to be hit as pumping stations go under water

PANAJI
Water supply to many parts of North Goa, particularly Tiswadi and Ponda, will be severely affected for the next few days as the incessant rains have flooded and submerged pumping stations at the various reservoirs and waterworks.

Pumping stations at the Opa waterworks are submerged which has severely affected the pumping operations.

According to the executive engineer of PWD’s Division III, this will leave Ponda and Tiswadi talukas grappling with erratic supplies until July 26. In Pernem, operations were halted at the 15-MLD plant due to rise in the water level of Kalna River affecting supplies to the taluka.
