Water woes of Quepem will be solved soon: Kavlekar

Deputy CM Chandrakant Kavlekar on Thursday said ongoing works of augmentation and laying of new pipelines would permanently resolve all water woes in Quepem constituency.   

Speaking after commissioning the 150 mm DI drinking water pipeline from Quitol to Pirwada and Pirwada to parts of Quitol village laid at a cost of Rs 70 lakhs, Kavlekar said water pressure problems would also be resolved with the laying of the new pipeline.   

Stating that developmental works in varied sectors are carried out with a vision and taking future requirements, Kavlekar said some works are nearing completion, while the other projects are in progress.   

“Keeping in mind the needs for the coming 25 years, all round development in terms of infrastructure, health, education, water supply is being undertaken,” said Kavlekar, adding no stone will be left unturned for development.   

Speaking further, Kavlekar said work to lay a new water line worth Rs 8 crore from Ambaulim is underway.   

“Drinking water system work under JICA at a cost of Rs 29 crore in Quepem is accorded approval by government,” said Kavlekar, adding that unity of people is very important for progress and development of the village.   

Khola Zilla Panchayat Member Shanu Velip said the government has been working tirelessly for the overall development in the State.   

“People should keep aside their differences and work united for the welfare of the people,” he added.   

Meanwhile, the deputy CM also laid the foundation stone for a Club House at Gavliwada-Betul, construction of which will be taken on land donated by Kavlekar family under the Panchayat Golden Jubilee Fund.
