Former Maharashtra chief minister & Goa BJP in-charge Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP had indeed offered Utpal Parrikar to choose a ticket from among two constituencies but Utpal was firm on Panaji.
“Utpal was not denied a ticket. We had offered him a choice between two constituencies. But he wanted only Panaji, and therefore rejected our offer. We are sorry he is not with us, but BJP is a national party and has a working style,” Fadnavis said, to a query from a journalist.
He said that the party will do all it can to convince those party-men who have gone astray.
“Our efforts are always on to bring them back into our family. If they come we will welcome them but if they are firm on their decision then we can’t help it,” he said, when questioned whether the party will persuade the dissidents like Parrikar and Parsekar to withdraw their nominations on January 31.
