West Bengal man held with ganja in raid at Mormugao

Mormugao police on Saturday night arrested a man from West Bengal for allegedly possessing drugs during a raid near Dinu Garage at Headland Sada.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by PSI Suraj Naik carried out the raid between 10.15 pm and 11.15 pm. The accused, identified as Surajit Patra, was caught with 157 grams of greenish dry leaves, stems, and flowering parts of a plant suspected to be ganja, worth around Rs 15,700. Police said Patra had come to deliver the substance to customers.

He was later arrested, and a case was registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Saidatta Naik under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
