Mahila Congress on Thursday targeted the three Members of Parliament from Goa and demanded their performance report. Speaking at Congress House, Mahila Congress president Pratima Coutinho stated, “The BJP is merely mimicking the token fast staged by the Congress recently. Lok Sabha elections are coming up. How many questions have you raised on behalf of Goans in the parliament? Give us a report card of your performance. What have you done for Goans?”
Coutinho further said that it is for the first time in the history of Indian politics that ruling MPs are sitting for a fast. “Are they trying to show us their failures or are they are fasting to lose a few pounds?” she questioned.
Adopting an aggressive stance, Coutinho took a sly jibe at North Goa Lok Sabha MP Shripad Naik and said that “simplicity is not the virtue of politics. In politics, work talks”.
She also lashed out at South Goa Lok Sabha MP Narendra Sawaikar and said, “People of South Goa are feeling cheated because they voted for you. So many minorities have reposed their faith in you and they have realized what a blunder they committed. He is barely ever in the district.”
Meanwhile, Mahila Congress leader Savitri Kavlekar criticized Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for closing down not only a pharmacy but also the canteen at GMC and for outsourcing these
set-ups.
