Reacting strongly to allegations that he has benefited from the Regional Plan 2021 by converting his land at Bethora, MGP President and former minister Deepak
Dhavalikar said his process was legal and he would file a defamation case against
those who tried to malign
his image.
Goencho Avaaz had claimed that Dhavalikar had benefited in the form of one lakh square metres of green corridor at Bethora which was shown as settlement.
Speaking to The Goan, Dhavalikar insisted he was not involved in any irregularities during the land conversion process. “I had applied for conversion when RP 2021 was kept open. They approved my request. But it was not given properly. It is not a forest land. Let them prove it. I challenge those who tried to expose me. I am in the process of filing a defamation case against them,” Dhavalikar said.
Dhavalikar also maintained that he had not influenced anyone during the process. “This is fully legal. No irregularities were done. They just tried to misguide the people and hence filing a defamation case against them is necessary,” he asserted. He clarified that he has had this land since last 10-12 years and had not taken favours from anyone for the conversion process.
