Stating that he is with the MGP for now, Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar said there is still a long time before the election and anything could happen during this period.
He was reacting to statements by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP State President Damodar (Damu) Naik at a meeting with party workers that the BJP would stake its claim to Mandrem constituency in the 2027 polls, making it clear that the constituency would not be available for an alliance partner.
Speaking to reporters, Arolkar said, “The right decision on where to stay or go will be taken at the right time. My workers will take the final decision. For now, I will remain in the MGP, an alliance partner of the BJP. The decision on what to do next will be taken in confidence with the workers.”
The MLA acknowledged that Goa has been developing under the leadership of Pramod Sawant.
“The chief minister has a special attachment to Mandrem constituency and has close relations with us. Everyone should be proud of their party. Other parties also need to learn from BJP’s organisation and every party leader needs to learn from them. Parties should constantly be in touch with their workers to boost their morale,” said Arolkar.
“Assembly elections are scheduled in 2027 and it is not possible to say what will happen during this period because nothing is permanent and change is the way of life. I will focus on development works in the remaining two years.”
