Addressing the media at Azad Maidan, Union leader Ajitsingh Rane stated that a meeting was held between local MLA and Power Minister Milind Naik, Western India Shipyard management officers and CM Laxmikant Parsekar following which it was agreed that the management would pay 35% of the pending salary of ten months to the 350-odd workers. “Accordingly, they have paid two months salary on Wednesday and we have been assured that the remainder will be paid by the end of April,” Rane stated. Workers had resorted to strike after the establishment was closed down and ten months salaries were not disbursed and labour benefits withheld. Rane said that the workers will officially resume work from Wednesday even while they hadn t technically stopped working during the time of strike.
