Woman booked after car hits scooter in Canacona

CANACONA

A woman from Sadolxem in Canacona has been booked for allegedly driving rashly and negligently after her car collided with a scooter at Bhatpal, injuring two young women from Poinguinim.

According to Canacona police, Sunita D’sa of Sadolxem was driving a car along the old NH-66 from Chaudi towards Poinguinim when she allegedly moved onto the wrong side of the road at Bhatpal and struck an oncoming scooter.

The scooter rider, Nikhita Velip, and pillion rider, Radhika Velip, both residents of Dabel, Poinguinim, were thrown onto the road along with the two-wheeler and sustained injuries in the accident.

Police said Radhika Velip suffered grievous injuries and has been admitted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, for treatment. Canacona police have registered a case against D’sa.

under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving and endangering human life.

Further investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Anand Pagi of Canacona Police Station.

Bear attack leaves farmer injured in Kankumbi forest

VALPOIA 25-year-old farmer from Hund village, Belagavi district, was seriously injured after a bear attacked him in the Kanakumbi forest area on Wednesday evening. Mahesh Babu Gavade was returning home from farm work when the animal emerged from the forest. He suffered injuries to his hands and legs and was admitted to hospital. Forest officials have launched an inquiry and urged residents to remain cautious.
