Fire damages café in Margao’s Khareband area

MARGAO: Margao Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the Khareband area of the city after a fire broke out in a small café late on Wednesday night. The café had already closed for the day when the fire started. Fire Officer Gill D’Souza said the premises were opened to allow firefighters to carry out operations. “The fire brigade reached the spot promptly and brought the blaze under control before it could spread further,” he said. He added that the café suffered damage, with the kitchen area and parts of the roof structure, including rafters, being destroyed in the fire. No injuries were reported.

Suspected food poisoning sends 28 tourists to hospital

MARGAO:  Twenty-eight tourists from Kerala were rushed to the South Goa District Hospital late on Tuesday night after allegedly suffering from suspected food poisoning.
