MARGAO
A resident of Sarzora was cheated of Rs 1.06 lakh by an accused who allegedly impersonated an ONGC representative and promised her a job.
In her complaint, the woman stated that on June 20, she shared her email ID and WhatsApp number on a website after seeing a newspaper advertisement inviting applications for various posts.
She later received a call from an unknown person claiming to be an ONGC representative. The accused allegedly promised to provide her with a job and induced her to pay Rs 1,06,690.
Believing the claims to be genuine, the complainant transferred the amount through multiple online transactions to accounts provided by the accused. The accused thereby allegedly cheated her and caused her wrongful financial loss.
