A woman from Keri-Ponda was duped by an unidentified person to the tune of Rs 34,000 in a ATM card fraud. rnSources informed that police were reluctant to register the offence, and accepted the case only after some coercing by the complainant.

An unidentified person, posing as a bank officer, phoned the complainant and solicited for her ATM card and PIN. Later, she received the messages of money transactions for online shopping of Rs 34,000. Sources informed that police were not taking the complaint saying it was a minor matter, but later the ‘influence' from the complainant forced them to register the complaint under Section 420 of Indian Penal Code. PSI Yogesh Mandrekar is investigating the case.
