A 48-year-old woman died in a road accident near the Margao Municipal garden early Saturday morning when a bus ran over her while she was crossing the road.
Margao police reported that the pedestrian, Sheela Botekar, wife of Yellappa Botekar and a resident of Dicarpale, was struck by a bus and subsequently run over, resulting in her death.
The accused driver, Uday Wadar, aged 38 and a resident of Char-Rasta, Canacona, was driving his bus in a rash and negligent manner from the State Bank of India bus stop towards Gomant Vidhya Niketan/KTC bus stand when he hit the pedestrian. The woman was taken to the South Goa District Hospital in Margao, where she was declared brought dead.
