Woman makes 3 visits to 2 police stations to file plaint

BICHOLIM

In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old woman and her minor son from Surla-Dharbandora were made to shuttle three times between two police stations nearly 19 km apart on Monday only to lodge a complaint with the police.

According to sources, the incident took place as Rupali Surlakar, her brother and her minor son were travelling by bus from Padlos-Maharashtra towards Karaswada-Mapusa at about 8 am.

She and her minor son then boarded a bus to proceed to Valpoi and on reaching Assonora, she noticed 3-4 women alighting the bus. She became suspicious of them as they had also boarded the bus at Karaswada junction and they were standing close to her on the bus.

Surlakar then realised that gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 4 lakh were missing from her purse.

The woman with her minor son went to the Bicholim Police Station (PS) to lodge her police complaint but was told to go to the Colvale PS to file her complaint as the incident is believed to have taken place in Assonora.

The woman and her minor son then proceeded to the Colvale PS nearly 19 km away, but she was told to go back to the Bicholim PS on account of jurisdiction.

The woman then went back to the Bicholim PS and she was finally told that the police would register a Zero FIR and transfer the case to the Colvale police station.
