Women protesters with water pots, buckets oppose Mhadei diversion

Women protesters came with water pots and buckets as they turned up for the ‘Save Mhadei’ meeting near the Lohia Maidan, Margao, on Sunday.

Amongst the women who joined hands to oppose diversion of water, including former MLA Alina Saldanha, Pratima Coutinho, Tara Kerkar, Sabita Mascarenhas, Diana Tavares, Kim Miranda, Zarina Da Cunha and others.

The Save Mhadei, Save Goa Front could not hold the meeting at the Lohia Maidan venue since a programme organised by the 18th Kranti Din Samiti for the children was in progress.

The Margao police sub-division made elaborate security arrangements surrounding the Lohia Maidan. The Lohia Maidan road was closed for traffic, while the Save Mhadei, Save Goa Front was allowed to hold the meeting outside the Maidan near Bank of Baroda building.
