CANACONA
Amid mounting demands for cabinet berths among newly elected BJP MLAs, Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, who has been elected for a fourth term, was clear that he would not insist on a ministerial post but felt his capabilities are an asset to his party and the government.
Speaking to The Goan, Tawadkar said he would accept the party’s decision on any role assigned to him.
“I have maintained party discipline to the core during these elections and state and central party leaders had full faith in me. My first strength is my organisation and the second strength are my Karyakartas. I made 100% use of both these strengths, which made it easy for me to win 2022 elections,” said Tawadkar.
“With my karyakartas strongly rallying behind me, I was confident in obtaining leads in most segments and except for Agonda and Loliem-Polem, I got leads in Shrishthal, Canacona municipality, Gaondongrim, Khotigao and Poinguinim areas.”
Asked if he would stake claim to a cabinet berth in the new government, Tawadkar replied in the negative.
“I have never asked my party for any particular post in my last three terms as MLA and it will not be any different in my fourth term now. But I strongly believe in my capabilities which will be an asset to my party and the government,” said Tawadkar.
