Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar has said work on the new water treatment plant at Tuem is being expedited and once completed, residents in the area would not have to depend on water tankers.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a new water tank in the area in the presence of Tuem Sarpanch Sulaksha Naik, Deputy Sarpanch Nilesh Kandolkar, panch member Anupama Salgaocar, former sarpanch Kishor Naik, engineers Sandip Morajkar, former panch member Ganpat Pednekar and others.
Pointing out that water issues are on the rise across the State, Arolkar said the government is trying to resolve the problems faced by the public.
Arolkar said the new water tank would provide water supply to 300-plus taps in the area on a regular basis. Sarpanch Sulaksha Naik also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Arolkar inaugurated a waste disposal project in Tuem.
The shed has been initiated by the panchayat committee. Arolkar expressed hope that this shed would help in making Tuem a garbage-free village.
