Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said that it was sad that the opposition had been indulging in negativity and misguiding and instigating people to oppose good projects while addressing a Liberation Day gathering at Chicalim
Godinho speaking after hoisting the national tricolor on the 63rd Goa Liberation Day celebrations at Chicalim said that Mormugao Taluka was one of the choices to be the capital of Goa during Portuguese rule.
“Goa has to adopt new projects that will change the lifestyle of its citizens and change the quality of everyone’s life, but sometimes it is sad that the opposition instead of understanding the importance of the project, starts to misguide and instigate people to oppose every good project and this is bad for the democracy,” said Godinho.
Godinho said changes have been introduced in the transport system and added that though there is reluctance from taxi operators, he would work to ensure that all taxis plying in Goa are based on an App.
“I will shortly introduce a policy where there will be less taxes and charges paid to the government, if taxi operators ply through an App and this is required and necessary for the transformation in transportation,” said Godinho.
“The Goencho Patrao scheme was launched so that unemployed youth can consider running a taxi as a profession without being called a taxi driver. Taxi drivers are ambassadors of tourism and they must realise the big role they have to play as the main stakeholder in transform of Goa,” said Godinho.
