VASCO
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Friday launched the work on two major cross drains in Vasco city in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, Councillor Shami Salkar and others.
Speaking to reporters, Salkar said the proposal was placed before the MMC and the work had begun after the proposal was accepted.
“These are the most important cross drains in the city. We have seen that gutters are choked with a lot of plastic, especially pet bottles. Water would enter shops and houses in this area earlier and these drains are very vital to clear waterlogging during heavy rains,” said Salkar.
“Work on these two major cross drains will help us prevent flooding. We are also working on three other cross drains as well so that rainwater can pass smoothly in a systematic manner and there will be no flooding,” said Salkar.
